I have been thinking a lot recently. Wondering what is happening to "young" people these days. Maybe I am really having generation gap or it is really the "Y" generation attitude. I really do not understand them.
I know I have a lot of "unresolved issues" with the dept - all accumulated over the past 6 years. But I think I have learnt to give and take over the years. Even though I grumble a lot, I also know that sometimes we need to give up certain privileges due to the nature of our work. And I can appreciate it if people stick on to the rules. Cos when they do not do so, I am affected too.

Unfortunately, not everyone feels the same way. I realise that there is no team spirit in the dept and people really do not care if you die or not. Friday case was a very good example. I called for help to see a suicide case for me as I was stuck at a homevisit for more than 4 hrs. But my dear SWA had to call multiple people down the roster, skipping more than 6 persons to reach my best friend - Ms Wong. Reason given for not able to help me ranges from having pre-appointment interviews to doing social report (excuse me hor, social report can be done anytime lor!)
Nobody is appreciative of me trying to prevent a readmission at the homevisit. Neither do they appreciate that I am taking on a difficult case and trying to clear all the problems.
Then today, some people irritate me by fighting to take the same day leave as me which is also my birthday. Which means I can't even rest on the day that I am born. Like I was telling the whole world today, birthday is not such a big deal for me. But if possible I hope that I can be excuse from office cos I do not want see any irritating people that day.
What I can't stand is that young people cannot take "NO" for an answer. They go round acting like they are the victim of the system and pleas for exception to be made for them. I am so sorry please grow up and learn that this is the working world. And it is really not my problem if you need to pay any penalty for your holidays. Cos you are just making an assumption that people will give in to you.
Anyway thanks to this person I have decided to celebrate my birthday this year. The last year in the 20s. So no matter what happen I will be on LEAVE!
