I got to know what is Heng Hwa Mee only after I joined CGH. That is because we have a wonderful Heng Hwa chef in the dept. Yes, that will be our dear Mrs Ooi. She will always cook for the whole dept in the office or invite us to her house for the Heng Hwa Mee feast. She has been doing that even after she retired a few years ago.
Initially I was wondering what is so fascinating about this Mee. I mean it look like the normal "Ban Mian" to me. But after tasting it, I realise it is quite unique. As Heng Hwa is not such a common dialect, I have never tried any of their food other than those cooked by Mrs Ooi. So today after Ah Jiao's suggestion of Pui Tien Resturant at Tampines Mall, I decided to go there with my Mum for dinner. And we like the food there :)
This is what we ate. Got the photos from the website as I was too engross eating and never take any photos.

Braised Pig Intestine & Spinach with salted egg and century egg
I think Mum like the pig intestine a lot. And I think the spinach is a much better version than the one at Crystal Jade.

Of course we tried the Heng Hwa Mee. Taste good but still feel that Mrs Ooi's version is better (thanks to the additional ingredients that she always put like egg, peanut, seaweed etc). And I think Mrs Ooi's soup is super tasty.
Anyway glad to find a new, good and affordable chinese restaurant. Guess this will be our new hangout place :) Thanks Ah Jiao for your recommendation.
