My last week in Hong Kong

Bimbo wanabe ask if my blog is going to die of unnatural death as I am back in Singapore. Well it all depends of how free I am and also if I have any things to complain. Haha...

Anyway, I spent my last week in Hong Kong doing nothing. Haha.. Went to a few places of attractions with my family. Did not do much shopping cos I got nightmare packing my luggage. For people that don't know, I send a 8kg parcel back to office and I still have difficulties putting everything inside the suitcase. The last night in my apartment was a torture. Hahaa... Told some friends that I feel like throwing away clothes. Of course being a poor social worker, a dear friend reminded me of my financial situation. She told me to bring the clothes to Singapore and sell to karanguni for coffee money. How nice of this friend right?? Haha...

20/5/08, Tuesday
Went to Hong Kong Disneyland but it was raining cats and dogs. Wrong day to visit Disneyland. But I guess everyone has their fun in their own way. Me and my sis got overly excited just by taking the Mickey Mouse train. Hahaha...

With the lead actor and actress. Queue for about half an hour or more to take photo with them (despite the rain). This is to compensate for not taking photo with them when I went to Japan last year. Haha.. Marie, at least the queue here is much much better than that crazy Japan.

21/5/08, Wednesday
Went to Lantau Island in the morning. Took a cable car over but due to the weather, cannot see any view (very foggy). Went to Lantau Island for vegetarian lunch. Shopping at Tung Chung and went to the Peak in the evening. A very tiring day.

22/5/08, Thursday
As we were exhausted the day before. I actually sent my uncle and family off to Macau on their on. You won't believe that we spend almost the whole day in the hotel. But I think my big deal niece enjoy the day the most. She spent her day looking out of the window at people on the streets and of course at the Mickey Mouse shop that is opposite the hotel :)

23/5/08, Friday
Went to buy some last minute goodies to bring back to Singapore. Pack our luggage and off we go to the HK airport. After more than 3 months in Hong Kong, finally I am saying goodbye to the place. Home sweet home :)

3 month anniversary!!!!!

Yes!!!! Today is the last day (officially, as Sunday still going for agency visit) of my placement in HK. Am I happy??? Of course!!! I miss Singapore food!!! Hahaha.....

Of course I will also miss my fun colleagues in HK. They have been very very kind to me. For the past few days, I have been having free meals. Well, every time I want to pay for my lunch or afternoon tea, there will always be a "fight for the bill". Haha... The extend that they go through to fight for the bill is really beyond your imagination.

Before I left the office just now, they were saying goodbye to me as if we were never ever meet again. Haha..... Well, I am still alive so meeting again is always possible. We never know when our paths are going to cross again.

Anyway I am very grateful that I have met very helpful colleagues here. Cos before I came people were telling me that HK people are not so friendly. So far so good. They have all been very kind to me.

To my HK colleagues, if you ever read this post. Thank you very much for making this trip a fulfilling and enjoyable one. I will miss all the fun here!!!

四川大地震

四川大地震死亡人數升至近二萬，當局估計死亡人數會超過五萬。目前，仍有數萬人遭活埋，生死未卜....

The earthquake in Sichuan is really terrible. The media here has followed the rescue team to hike to the disaster area. Maybe because Hong Kong is part of China so people here are very affected by the disaster. There are lots of organisations doing fund raising now. In fact the TV station is having a fund raising show this weekend.

This trip has made me learn to appreciate Singapore in many ways. Really looking forward to going home next week.

Gifts for my HK colleagues

Tomorrow is my last day in office here. Took me a few nights to write 20 thank you cards and of course wrap the presents. Must thank Doreen and Jeff for helping me to buy the presents and bringing it over to HK. THANK YOU VERY MUCH!!!

Gave my centre colleagues the presents just now as I may not get to see some of them tomorrow. Actually those Merlion souvenirs are quite ugly but people say they look nice. Hahah... I guess they are just being polite :)

My new haircut

Finally drag myself to cut hair today. Went to the salon opposite my apartment. Looks like some high class place from the outside. The website also looks good. http://www.h-culture.com/home.html

The real service? So called "high class" but I don't really like. The stylist actually got an assistant standing next to him when he cut my hair. The assistant job is to hold on to my hair when the stylist cut. Which in normal scenario a hair clip will do the job. Not very efficient and I don't like the feeling of so many hands holding on to your head.

Well the stylist act like some high and mighty person. He does not carry his set of scissors, hair clips and combs. The assistant carry it for him and has to pass it to him whenever he ask for them. Is like Dr in surgery asking the nurse for the surgery knife kind.

Anyway, communication is a problem. My request for shoulder length haircut is actually not shoulder length. It is shorter which is not really a big deal to me. In fact I even request for it to go shorter since it is at that kind of neither "long nor short" length. But that fellow refuse to cut. As usual, since when stylist listen to their customer request.

Am I happy with the haircut? Ok lah, not fantastic. I don't really care as long as it can be manage easily. Cos no matter what kind of hairstyle I have, my sis will only describe it as "a bunch of grass". Haha..

Lantau Island tour again....

Yes, 2nd time to Lantau Island, Ngong Ping Village. But it is also new experience on this trip. Took the bus up instead of the cable car. Reason being, someone is afraid of height. And I seriously think that we did the right choice. Haha.....

The Big Buddha

Weather too hot so we each bought a hat This is before we climb up to the Buddha. That's why Ms Lim still can smile at the camera. Hahaa... After the vigorous exercise, we were just grateful that her heart is still beating (even though I am sure it was beating at a very fast rate. haha...)

Not realising Ms Lim's stress, I happily bought an ice cream to eat. Haha...

Anyway I was told that Ms Adeline Kwan mention about some smooth and "melt in your mouth" dou hua at ?Lantau Island, ?the Peak. Well Ms Lim cannot remember where is the place lah. So we ate dou hua at Lantau Island. Did it melt in our mouth? Haha... not M & M lah, so no lor. Not very fantastic lah. Just normal dou hua. Ms Kwan, when was the last time you came here? Must be years ago ah.

One thing is that me and Ms Lim trust the Cantonese Ladies in the dept a lot. Especially when it comes to food. So we went to eat roasted goose also. Hahaa... Of course I remember the left side is the best one. But I never listen to Cantonese ladies lah. Basically the 3 of us were not very sure if we were eating goose or duck. If they serve us roast duck hor, we also wont know. But I must say it taste quite good thanks to the fats!!!

Macau One Day Tour

Past weekend was a busy one. Not only the Olympic Torch was in HK, our big deal Bimbo No. 2 is also here now. Went to Macau with her and her boyfriend, Jeff on Sat. Took the 9.30am ferry there the 10pm ferry back to Hong Kong.

I blend in with the background huh. Suppose to wear red to support China. "I love China!" Think too highly of me. I just don't want to be mistaken as one of those silly protesters. Haha...

Well, Macau is a small place. There is nothing other than casinos. On our short bus rides we already saw more than 10 casinos. According to my colleagues here, Macau got at least 30 casinos. And because of that, there is nothing to do there other than gamble.

The 3 of us stone more than half the day at the hotel and at the Macau Tower. Oh yah, we watch the firework as Olympic Torch Rely was there on Sat. BUT the firework is a disappointment. According to Ms Lim, you do not even need to raise your head to watch it.

Anyway because of this visit, I have decided not to go Macau when my family visit later. I can only imagine my gamblers family members stuck inside the casinos. And people like my cousin, my niece and me will be stoning outside. Haha.. Will see if the gamblers are agreeable to the plan ;P
